We are a growing firm and are looking for an experienced, passionate advocate, and consultant who can help our clients that need government relations and communications support.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Government Relations, the Consultant will work with clients on tasks related to strategic advice and communications. The successful applicant will:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and team members.
- Ensure that appropriate perspectives are incorporated into planning, design, and project implementation.
- Facilitation
- Research
- Provide strategic advice, analysis, and support on Blackbird account files.
- Develop written materials such as briefing notes, press releases, reports, and strategies for our clients as well as collateral materials for government relations activities.
- Manage files, including having responsibility for maintaining positive client relationships and ensuring we stay in scope, provide client deliverables on time, and work toward achieving successful client outcomes.
- Will be required to liaise with elected officials’ offices and attend advocacy meetings on the Hill as required.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education—either a degree or diploma—in a related discipline.
- Minimum two years’ experience in public affairs in-house or an agency.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice and the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated writing experience and can develop associated communications materials.
- Demonstrated understanding of Parliament and Canadian politics.
- Professional written and verbal skills.
- Proven ability to both work collaboratively and independently.
- Proven ability to manage client-facing files.
- Attention to detail and strong time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent judgment, problem solving, and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated advocacy skills related to the position.*
- Indigenous policy knowledge and/or lived experience is considered an asset.
