improve their relationships with them. In addition, we work with groups advancing better outcomes for women and other equity-deserving communities. Our clients have included some of the largest and most impactful organizations from the finance, health, and natural resource sectors, as well as Indigenous groups from across Canada.
We are a growing firm and are looking for an experienced, passionate advocate, and
consultant who can help our clients that need communications support.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Consultant will work with clients on
tasks related to strategic advice, policy, and communications. The successful applicant
will:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and team members.
- Ensure that appropriate perspectives are incorporated into planning, design, and
project implementation. - Facilitation
- Research
- Provide strategic advice, analysis, and support on Blackbird account files.
- Develop written materials such as briefing notes, press releases, reports, and
strategies for our clients. - Develop collateral materials for the firm including social media strategies using
Canva and/or other platforms. - Manage files, including having responsibility for maintaining positive client
relationships and ensuring we stay in scope, provide client deliverables on time,
and work toward achieving successful client outcomes. - Identify emerging trends, opportunities, and issues in the social media/ communications sphere.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education—either a degree or diploma—in a related discipline.
- Minimum three years’ experience in public affairs in-house, an agency, or in government.Â
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice and the ability to engage with diverse audiences.Â
- Demonstrated writing experience and can develop associated communications materials.
- Professional written and verbal skills.
- Proven ability to both work collaboratively and lead project teams.
- Proven ability to manage client-facing files.
- Attention to detail and strong time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent judgment, problem solving, and collaboration skills.
- Indigenous policy knowledge and/or lived experience is considered an asset.
- Working on Parliament Hill for a minister in a communications capacity is an asset.
